MUFJ Trust and Banking shuts down “information bank” Dprime
Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking (MUTB) will terminate its information banking service “Dprime”, which manages and utilizes personal data, on May 20, 2024.
The information banking service “Dprime” has been operating since its launch in July 2021 by providing personal data registered by individual users in a smartphone app to third parties with the consent of the users. This allowed individual users to receive various benefits, and by answering questionnaires in the app, support companies’ and organizations’ efforts to solve social issues through their products and initiatives.
However, due to individuals’ anxiety about information management that inhibited proactive use and difficulty in differentiating the Dprime service from existing market research firms, MUTB determined that long-term continuation of the business would be difficult, and has decided to terminate the service.
Schedule going forward
Users are advised to copy and paste gift codes and gift URLs obtained from past offers, gift box links exchanged from points, etc. so that they can be used even after exiting the Dprime app.
Everyone who has at least one point in the app as of March 4 will be granted an additional 110 points on March 5, which allows the exchange into a JPY 100 giftee box at a minimum.
- February 19 (Mon) — Suspend new member registration and existing member identity verification applications
- February 29 (Thu) — End of point acquisition within the app
- March 5 (Tue) — Additional points granted
- May 20 (Mon) — Last day for Dprime login and point redemption
- May 21 (Tue) — Complete service termination (all operations including login will be stopped)
Actions related to service termination
To protect the rights of Dprime members, the following will be implemented:
- Deletion of data except for legally required information *for all members
- Granting of additional points and relaxing point redemption conditions
Going forward, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation will continue to leverage its experience from this business to actively utilize digital technologies and provide products and services that are broadly beneficial to society, thereby responding to their customers’ diverse needs.
